It’s easy to see why this charming lighthouse in Cape May Point State Park is such a popular spot. The present building dates back to 1859 and is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There is also a visitor center and gift shop on the grounds for guests to enjoy.
Located in the same park as the Cape May Lighthouse is another structure with a storied history. This former lookout tower is one of the last remaining fortifications of it’s kind in the state. It has been fully restored and plays host to different exhibits throughout the year.
Although it’s currently open to the public, this unusual wooden lighthouse (Cape May, NJ) is still being used for its original purpose by the United States Coast Guard. There’s naturally a museum on the grounds, but visitors are sure to find that the onsite gardens make a charming addition to the standard attractions.
